What is the Benton Franklin Volunteer Center?

The Volunteer Center is the primary volunteer management organization in Southeastern Washington. Over 100
nonprofits, schools, arts and health care organizations in two counties and over 5,000 volunteers are associated
with the Volunteer Center. The Center creatively mobilizes resources to meet the needs of the community through
various programs.

Our Mission:

Your Volunteer Center excites and engages volunteers to build a better community.

The Benton Franklin Volunteer Center contributes to the welfare of the community and the agencies it supports by:

·         Recruiting and matching volunteers to meet local community needs.
·         Providing training and technical assistance in volunteerism.
·         Facilitating special projects to respond to community problems and needs.
·         Building community awareness and understanding of the importance of volunteerism.

You can make a difference today – Volunteer!

How Our Referral System Works:

Volunteers: Volunteers fill out a Volunteer Enrollment Form, available online or in our office. Next, we help the
volunteer decide what volunteer opportunities best match their interests and availability. Finally we forward the
volunteer information to the agencies they’ve decided on. The agency will then contact the volunteer to talk
about opportunities and scheduling possibilities!

Agencies: Agencies who would like to have volunteers referred to them by the Volunteer Center must first sign
a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with us. The MOU is an agreement between the Volunteer Center and
the Agency, stating among other things that they will turn in documented volunteer hours to us each month.

For complete details, contact the Volunteer Center (582-0631). Once an MOU is signed, the Agency can submit
requests for volunteers for positions they need to fill.
